Mom, Daughter Charged in Medicaid Scheme
Prosecutors allege the women submitted false claims.
A mother and daughter from Germantown were charged with committing Medicaid fraud, Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler’s office announced. Hellen Njeri Ngatia, 44, and her daughter, Gladys Muthoni Ngatia, 25, were charged in Baltimore City Circuit Court with one count each of Medicaid fraud and conspiracy to commit Medicaid fraud, according to court records accessed online. Prosecutors allege that between April 2009 and January 2010, Hellen Ngatia conspired with Gladys Ngatia to submit a series of false claims that showed Hellen Ngatia provided licensed practical nurse services to a Medicaid recipient.
