North Potomac Blaze Takes More Than 55 Firefighters To Extinghish

Resident: "All of my neighbors were outside last night watching the flames which were huge."

A fire in a vacant North Potomac home Wednesday night took more than 55 firefighters to put out, a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman told Patch. Firefighters were dispatched to the 14900 block of Talking Rock Court at around 8 p.m., MCFRS spokesperson Beth Anne Nesselt said. First reponders reported a large fire in a vacant single-family home that is under construction. Firefighters took a defensive approach, controlling and extinguishing the fire quickly, Nesselt said. "All of my neighbors were outside last night watching the flames, which were huge," Robyn Rutland of North Potomac told Patch in an email. Crime Summary: Person Beat, Robbed by Five Suspects

Strong-Arm Robbery Suspects Sought Police said a male was beat up and robbed by five people in Germantown on Sautrday, Dec. 8. The attack was reported near Plummer and Fox Chapel drives at around 10:30 p.m., according to Montgomery County Police. A detailed description of the suspects—males, between the ages of 16 and 24—was unavailable. Police spokeswoman Rebecca Innocenti said the victim was approached by two suspects, who proceeded to beat him up. Innocenti said three others joined in the assault. Innocenti was unable to provide information about why the suspects approached the alleged victim. Police: Masked Robbers Strike in North Potomac

Robberies reported on Gum Spring Drive and Gallant Fox Lane

Montgomery County Police are looking for masked robbers who targeted victims in North Potomac on Monday, Nov. 19. At around 7:45 p.m., two men in wearing dark ski masks and all black clothes threatened the alleged victim with a weapon in the 13600 block of Gum Spring Drive, according to police. An hour later in the 14600 block of Gallant Fox Lane, according to police, masked men assaulted an alleged victim but were unsuccessful in trying to take property. Police said one suspect was wearing a green ski mask and the other was wearing a dark blue ski mask. In other police news, a residential burglary was reported in the 11300 block of Amberlea Farm Drive in North Potomac on Friday, Nov. 16. Police said the suspect knew the victim.

News Nearby: Woman Hit by Car on Muddy Branch Road, Dies

A Gaithersburg woman who was struck by a vehicle on Muddy Branch Road near Suffield Drive has died, police said.

A Gaithersburg pedestrian who was hit by a car Monday has died, Gaithersburg Patch reports. Yessenia M. Martinez Rivas, 37, was hospitalized and died hours later from injuries she suffered after being hit by a Toyota Prius traveling north on Muddy Branch Road, police said. The accident occured at around 5:30 p.m. Rivas was in the roadway, near Suffield Drive. Police said the driver, Daniel Ray Levine, 66, of North Potomac, remained at the scene.. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision and have not spoken to detectives to please contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.  Callers may remain anonymous.
