Silver Spring Cartoon Creator Named to Forbes '30 Under 30'

Rebecca Sugar will become the first woman to create a show for Cartoon Network.

Silver Spring native Rebecca Sugar is making a splash in the world of animation. The storyboard artist, writer and composer has received praise for her work on "Adventure Time," an Emmy-nominated show on Cartoon Network. Forbes recently named her to its "30 Under 30" Entertainment list. What Forbes has to say about Sugar: "Adventure Time" is one of the most innovative cartoons on TV and many of the best episodes were written by Sugar. Now she's getting her own show and will become the first woman to create a show for Cartoon Network. "Steven Universe" about magical guardians of the universe, premiers next year.
