Washington Spirit Unveils Schedule

The Germantown-based professional women's soccer team’s first home game is April 20.

Washington Spirit announced the schedule for its inaugural season on Tuesday. The Germantown-based professional women’s soccer team’s first game is on the road, against the Boston Breakers on April 14. The Spirit's home opener at the Maryland SoccerPlex is April 20, when they’ll face the Western New York Flash. NFL Playoffs TV Schedule: Division Games

No Redskins, but Baltimore faces a former Colts quarterback.

The NFL division playoffs find many football fans in our region still reeling from the Redskins opening round loss, wondering about the future of their franchise quarterback and looking for a new team to follow through Super Bowl Sunday. Meanwhile, up Interstate 95, Baltimoreans are playing tug-o’-war with the Ravens. Patch’s Bryan Sears reports that leaders from Charm City and Baltimore County are debating who can truly claim the purple and black as their own. The Ravens face a longtime nemesis now with a new team as Peyton Manning leads the Denver Broncos against Baltimore on Saturday. Red Line: Single Tracking, Special Schedule for Veterans Day

On Monday, Nov. 12, Metro trains will run on a Saturday schedule, and Metrobuses will run on a "Saturday Supplemental" schedule.

Red Line trains will single track this weekend between Grosvenor and Friendship Heights to allow for rail and fastener renewal, as well as for tunnel leak repairs, Metro reported on its website. Trains will operate every 20 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont, according to Metro. Between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, additional trains will operate between Friendship Heights and Glenmont, resulting in service an average of every 10 minutes between those stations. Metro advised passengers traveling through the work zone to allow about 10 minutes of additional travel time.
