Five people sustained “non-life-threatening injuries” Sunday after a van and a motorcycle collided on Frederick Road, a police spokeswoman told Patch. At about 4:15 p.m. Sunday, emergency personnel responded to Milestone Center for reports of a serious crash, Patch reported Sunday. Montgomery County Police Spokeswoman Lucille Bauer said a van traveling north on Frederick Road was making a left into the shopping center when it was struck by a motorcycle traveling south on Frederick Road. Bauer said the force of the crash caused the van to overturn; the motorcycle rider was ejected from the bike. The four people in the van and the bike rider were taken to the hospital. The expansion of the Walmart Supercenter at Milestone Center would effect parking lot near Best Buy.
The Montgomery County Planning Board is expected to approve a site plan that would expand the Walmart Supercenter at Milestone Center. The company wants to expand its is 150,00 square feet facility in Germantown by about 10 percent, to 165,300 square feet, mostly the portion of the parking lot next to Best Buy, Patch reported in January. The Planning board is expected to vote on the site plan Thursday, during its regular meeting in Silver Spring. County transportation staff determined that Walmart’s entrances and traffic patterns would not need to change if the proposed expansion took place, according to documents submitted to the planning board.
