No major snow is predicted, but some cold and wet precipitation is predicted to fall in Maryland over the next two days.
While no major snow event is forecast for Montgomery County this week, there is some wintry weather in our future. Rain, mixed with snow and sleet mainly after 1 a.m., is likely tonight, according to the National Weather Service. Accumulation of less than half an inch is expected. Lows of around 34 degrees are forecast. Friday’s weather is predicted to be rainy and foggy, with a high of 44 degrees. The weather will turn cooler and breezy, with winds increasing to 20 to 25 mph after midnight. NWS gives a 30 percent chance of snow overnight, again with little to no accumulation.

Below-freezing temperatures and a wintery mix of rain, freezing rain and sleet spurred an extended winter weather advisory for Montgomery and Prince George's counties on Wednesday. The forecast called for accumulations of less than one inch of sleet and under a tenth of an inch of ice, according to the Naitonal Weather Service. Temperatures are expected to stay below freezing, which can cause treacherous road conditions. In a statement released by the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) administrator Melinda B. Peters urged motorists to "keep their speeds down as lighter traffic can result in increased travel speeds" and "to exercise extreme caution today."
